Well... I told that after watching "The Hobbit" I became strangely fond of... dwarves :D
And Thorin is... one of my reasons ^^ Geez... I thought I couldn't be more of a fangirl....

Ah, and Happy New Year to everyone! I hope it will be better than 2012 to all of you!

Thorin Oakenshield is portrayed by Richard Armitage.
Character belongs to J.R.R Tokien legendarium

Of course I did, more than once. It's one of my favourite childhood stories and a book i have to read for school ^^.
However, I have to admit the way the dwarves are portrayed in the movie is 100 times better then what I imagined - never had an imagination for dwarves unfortunately ^^;
And Thorin well - I've never thought I could develop a fan-girl crush on a dwarf (however I like Gimli, for his heart and all ;P)

well, the animated version and comics and stuff portray them like disney dwarves... which is easily explainable when you consider that snow white and the seven dwarves came out the same year the hobbit was published... :D

I never saw the animated films, cause I was afraid they will ruin my imagination. Also, wasn't sure if a cartoon in a right way to bring Tolkien world to live...
My dwarves were mix of those from Disney with weapons I could see on my brother's Warhammer army... Which in the end, gave something strange, I'm not very proud of creating ^^;

well i have mixed opinions about the animated films... i especially hate the film by Ralph Bakshi, "the lord of the rings" because it has really bad rotoscope, and its easy to tell how lazy these people were in making that movie. however, i quite enjoy the "completely screwed over" version, it is hilarious and can be found here: [link] . i sort of enjoy the Hobbit and rotk by Rankin-bass because the animation is cute, and it brings back memories... pretty much the entire plot of rotk was centered around why frodo only has 9 fingers, there are songs sung: [link] . the orcs also sing a crazy song; [link] hope you enjoy!

Well, I remember how much I laughed when I saw Thranduil, form "The Hobbit" somwhere :) But to be honest, this look of him was somehow more fitting for him, according to the feeling I get of him after reading a book... And to me he's an ass, so to speak ^^;

I may check the links out, while I'll get over the amount of work I actually have to do. I'm sure I'll be needing something to lift my mood ;P
